The City of Buena Vista is located in Rockbridge County Virginia. The fire department was chartered in 1905 and has been providing fire protection for over 100 years. Our department responds to around 400 fire calls per year and 800 EMS First Response calls. In 2004 we moved into our new modern facility. The department made a decision in 2002 to build and finance a new firehouse. This station has a big community room for meetings, bingo, rentals and whatever else. We have a great commercial kitchen and plenty of office space. The last few years the department has been fortunate to receive grants from the fire act for extrication equipment, tools, turnout gear and a facility generator.

Company 10 is part of the safety program for the City of Buena Vista. We also protect about 70 square miles of Rockbridge County.In all the department protects 96 square miles and about 14000 citizens. .

Company 10 has 52 active firefighters and 8 fire police who help with traffic. We also have  a junior fire department which varies in number. There are two right now. Our junior department used to be bigger but state regs will not let them participate now until they are 16. We also have an Auxiliary that assists the department with various functions.

Our company received our ALS transport license in September of 2010. We are currently running four of our units as first response to all EMS calls in our first due area which is adding about 1100 calls per year. ALL 100% VOLUNTEER!!!
